Moral Tales for kids
Following on from an evenings writing workshop Mary suggested that the work was so good that it should be collated into a small publication.
The brief was to use the example given..(see http://www.bobstaake.com/struwwelpeter/6.shtml )
..and create a moral tale that had a completely over the top ending.
Anyway you can see my efforts below..

The Tale of Tommy Tuttle
Tommy Tuttle picked his nose
Its not what Tommy Tuttle chose
but Tommy; more than once a day
would find his hand had gone gone astray
Whist sitting still or walking out
his digits would explore his snout
not knowing that his will was weak
he soldiered on within his beak
removing first a dried up crumb
with finger nail, opposed by thumb
and after giving that the boot
returned to dig another route
and on and on the cleaning went
with all the produce duly spent
removed from deep within his nose
and always spread about his clothes
Til one day mother throws a fit
My God hes gone and nibbled it
Its true!! hes gone and had a lick!!
Someone stop me being sick!!
Poor Tommy stayed oblivious
and didn't see the obvious
whilst all around were fit to spew
our Tommy tunnelled right on through
At this point things got proper heated
up shouts dad from where he's seated
"Give me that phone!!"..I'll sort this out
I know a man without a doubt
will stop the lads affected pickings
and cure him of his putrid lickin's
Although his cure may seem too fierce
His consciousness we have to pierce
to make him see whats clear to us
and do away with all this fuss
The date was set the time appointed
Tommy waited all disjointed
ready to receive his fate
upon that daunting fearful date
First the nose was sealed up tight
with 'Superglue' and 'Araldite'
then his fingers one by one
were glued together just for fun
So Tommy ceased his nasal work
and went through life a proper berk
with hands like spades and adenoidal
Tommy soon felt suicidal
so to the local fishing lake
our Tommy went his life to take
and jumping in he yearned for death
and longed to take his final breath
when suddenly as things looked grim
he finds that he can really swim
and with his nose now blocked up tight
he sees that things have turned out bright
and off he runs to tell his mum
still coved with the fishpond scum
he runs to her all his news
and how hes beaten off the blues
but mother ony sees the the wet
and thinks hes pickin' noses yet
when all at once he starts to sneeze
and mother stands in frozen freeze
to see her Tommys mouth tight shut
and sneezing out he goes kerplutt
his eyeballs pushed out from the rear
and bits of brain leak from each ear
Oh Tommy you’re a wicked son…!
you had to pick your nose again
but Tom could not hear what was said
for Tommy Tuttle now was dead
so think on when your mums irate
remember tommy's cruel fate
and when you feel an urge to pick
remember Tommy..stop it ..QUICK!
